Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a Patek Philippe Nautilus for a while now. You know, the real deal. But, man, those things are pricey! So, I thought, why not try to remake one myself? I decided to go for the 5713/1G model. It’s got that classic Nautilus look, with a white gold case and a sweet blue dial. Plus, it’s got diamonds, which adds a bit of extra bling.
First thing I did was gather some information. Look, I’m no watchmaker, but I’m pretty handy, and I figured I could pull this off with enough research. I found out that the real 5713/1G has a 40mm case, a self-winding movement, and a date function. It’s also water-resistant, which is cool, but I wasn’t planning on taking my remake for a swim anyway.
Next, I needed to find the parts. This was the trickiest part, obviously. I couldn’t just walk into a store and buy Patek Philippe parts. I searched around and found some decent-quality materials that looked similar to the ones used in the original. I got a white gold-plated case, a blue dial with some fake diamonds, and a movement that could handle the time and date. I am sure it is not a simple thing to make a watch, I did try my best to find a replacement movement that could handle the date function.
Now came the fun part: putting it all together. I’m not gonna lie, it was tough. I spent hours fiddling with tiny screws and trying to get everything to fit just right. I might have messed up a couple of times, but hey, that’s part of the learning process, right? There were many small parts in the watch case, and I had to be patient. I think I spent a week doing this, and it was a big challenge for me.

Eventually, I managed to assemble the whole thing. And you know what? It actually looked pretty good! It wasn’t perfect, of course. The finishing wasn’t as smooth as the real deal, and the movement was a bit louder. But it had that Nautilus shape, the blue dial, and even the date window. It felt like I achieved something great when I put it all together. The last step was to test it. I set the time and date, and it started ticking!
I wore my homemade Nautilus for a few days, and I gotta say, I was proud of it. It wasn’t a real Patek Philippe, but it was something I made with my own two hands. And it was a reminder that even if you can’t afford the real thing, you can still create something cool and unique. This is a very interesting experience, and I am so happy that I did this and I made a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5713/1 on my own, although it is not a real Patek Philippe, it is still great!
Would I recommend doing this? Well, it’s not for everyone. It takes time, patience, and a bit of skill. But if you’re up for a challenge and you’re passionate about watches, it’s definitely a fun project. Who knows, maybe I’ll try to remake another model someday. The sky is the limit!
