Okay, today I’m gonna show you guys how I remade a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5713/1, the classic style. It’s not something I do every day, but I thought, why not give it a shot? Let’s get into it.
First off, I started by gathering all the materials. I’m not using real gold or diamonds, obviously, so I got some stainless steel for the case and bracelet. For the diamonds, I picked up some cubic zirconia stones – they look pretty darn close to the real thing, and they won’t break the bank. I carefully selected the material because it is the basic element.
Next up, I worked on the watch case. This was probably the trickiest part. I used a reference picture of the real Nautilus 5713/1G-010 to get the shape and dimensions right. It’s got that iconic porthole design, so I took my time to make sure I got the curves and angles just right. This is the most difficult part of the whole process because it determines the final work.
- Used some basic metalworking tools to shape the stainless steel.
- Polished the case to give it that nice, shiny finish.
- Made sure the case was the right size to fit the movement and dial later on.
After the case, I moved onto the bracelet. Again, I used stainless steel and modeled it after the real deal. I attached each link carefully and made sure the bracelet was flexible and comfortable. It is important for me to achieve the same level of comfort.
The dial was next. I wanted that classic blue, so I found a similar color and painted it on. Then came the hour markers and hands. I fashioned these out of small pieces of metal and glued them onto the dial. It was painstaking work, but it turned out pretty good!
Now for the bling. I took those cubic zirconia stones and carefully set them around the bezel, just like the original 5713/1. It was a bit fiddly, but I managed to get them all in place. They really added some sparkle!
Finally, I assembled everything together. I put the movement inside the case, attached the dial, and fixed the bracelet. I made sure everything was secure and working properly.
The Result
And there you have it – my very own homemade Patek Philippe Nautilus 5713/1. It’s not perfect, of course, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It looks great on the wrist, and it’s a fun conversation starter. Plus, it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. All in all, it’s a successful experiment. I may remake other watches in the future.
