Well, let’s gab a bit about this YSL Envelope bag, ya know, the one all them fancy city gals are totin’ around. I ain’t no fashion expert, mind you, just an old woman who’s seen a thing or two, but I reckon I can tell a good bag from a bad one.
First off, what’s all this “remake” fuss about? Sounds to me like they’re tryin’ to copy somethin’ that was already good. Like my grandma used to say, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” But I guess these high-falutin’ designers gotta keep busy, huh? They’re always changin’ things up.
Now, this YSL bag, it looks kinda like a big letter, don’t it? An envelope, they call it. Envelope, that’s a fancy word for somethin’ so simple. I used to get letters from my boy when he was off in the army, and them envelopes weren’t made of no fancy leather, that’s for sure. But they held precious things, just like I reckon this bag is supposed to hold all a woman’s important stuff. You know, her lipstick, her phone, maybe a little snack for later. Us women, we gotta be prepared!
I saw some pictures online, folks call it “Pinterest” or somethin’, and them young girls, they’re wearin’ this bag with all sorts of outfits. Jeans, dresses, even them fancy pantsuits. Looks like it goes with everything, which is good, I guess. Nobody wants a bag that only matches one outfit. That’s just plain silly. If you’re gonna spend your hard-earned money, it better work for its keep.
- It seems like there’s different sizes too. They got this “medium” one, and I reckon there’s a smaller one and maybe even a bigger one. I guess it depends on how much stuff you gotta haul around.
- And this “quilt” thing they talk about. It looks like fancy stitchin’ to me. Makes it look all puffy and soft. Probably feels nice to the touch. But I bet it’s a pain to clean if you spill somethin’ on it. I’m always spillin’ somethin’.
- And “YSL”? What’s that stand for anyways? Some fella’s name, I reckon. Yves Saint somethin’ or other. Sounds French. Them French folks, they sure know how to make fancy things.
Some folks were talkin’ about “altering” their bags. Messin’ with ’em, ya know? Shortenin’ the straps or addin’ pockets. Seems like a waste of money to me. If you don’t like the bag the way it is, then don’t buy it! And they say if you change it, the store won’t take it back if it breaks. Warranty, they call it. Seems like a whole lotta fuss over a bag, if you ask me.
Now, they say this YSL is a “luxury” brand. That means it’s expensive, real expensive. Costs more than my old mule probably did! But I guess some folks got money to burn. They say it’s “edgier” than that Chanel stuff and simpler than that “LV” stuff. Luxury bag, YSL bag, YSL Envelope bag, that’s what they call it. Sounds like a lotta money to me. I could buy a whole lotta groceries with what one of them bags costs. Or a new set of tires for my truck. Now that’s somethin’ useful.
But I ain’t gonna judge. If a woman wants to spend her money on a fancy bag, that’s her business. Maybe it makes her feel good. Maybe it makes her feel important. I don’t know. I get my happiness from simpler things. Like a good cup of coffee in the mornin’ or a visit from my grandkids. But I seen them bags online. And they even got folks “repairin’” these bags. “Savage Repair,” somebody called it. Well, I guess if you spend that much money on a bag, you wanna keep it lookin’ nice. Me, I’d just sew it up myself if it tore. But these city folks, they got different ways of doin’ things.
They talk about this bag bein’ “roomy” and “versatile.” That just means it holds a lot of stuff and you can use it for different things. Well, my old tote bag is roomy and versatile too, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. But I reckon that ain’t the point, is it? It’s about the name, the brand. It’s about lettin’ folks know you got money to spend.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ one of these YSL Envelope bags, well, you go right ahead. It’s your money. But me? I’ll stick with my old tote bag. It’s seen me through thick and thin, and it ain’t never let me down. And that’s more than I can say for some folks I know, let alone a fancy bag. Choosing the best YSL bags seems like a chore to me. Too many choices, if you ask me.
