Alright, so today I’m messing around with this CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the one with the Caliber 3861 movement. You know, the one with the see-through back? Yeah, that “transparent case back” thing. It’s actually a pretty big deal if you’re into watches. I decided to go with the sapphire crystal version instead of the classic hesalite glass because I saw some comments saying it is better.
First off, I went to a few specialty stores to check these bad boys out in person. Man, holding one in your hand is way different than looking at pictures online. I noticed that the Speedmaster Professional is not as big as I expected, it’s actually pretty comfortable on the wrist. I checked both the hesalite and sapphire versions, and honestly, the sapphire one just looked a bit sharper to me.
Then, I started digging around for prices. Let me tell you, these things can get pricey! I hit up a bunch of different places, even some online stores. I found some used ones that were a bit cheaper, but I was worried about getting a fake or something that wasn’t in good condition. So, I started comparing prices from authorized dealers, you know, to make sure I was getting a real one and it’s brand new.
What really caught my attention was the movement, the Caliber 3861. After reading about it, I found it has this Co-Axial escapement thing that’s supposed to make it more accurate and last longer without needing service. It also has some silicon parts that help with anti-magnetism. I guess OMEGA really went all out on this one. They used to have Caliber 1861, but now this one is a big upgrade.
After doing all that research and comparing, I finally pulled the trigger and bought the darn thing. I mean the price of this is close to some cheap car, but what is more attractive to me is that it seems to be a good investment. I have heard that the Speedmaster usually keeps its value, and sometimes it even goes up in price, especially the older models and limited editions.
- Investment: People say this is a good investment. Hopefully, it’s true!
- Looks: The sapphire crystal looks super nice.
- Movement: This new Caliber 3861 seems like a beast.
Now that I have it, I’ve been wearing it every day. It feels solid and well-made. I guess it’s built to handle some rough conditions, which is cool. I’m not planning on going to the moon or anything, but it’s nice to know it could probably handle it. Overall, I’m stoked with this purchase. It’s a sweet watch, and I think I’m going to enjoy it for a long time.
