Okay, so, I wanted to get my hands on that Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the one with the see-through back. You know, the kind where you can see all the little gears and stuff moving around. Pretty cool, right? Anyway, I finally decided to pull the trigger and find one. Started looking around, checking out different stores and all that.
First thing I did was hit up a couple of the official Omega stores. Figured that would be the best place to start. Walked in, told them what I was looking for, the whole “Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with the open case back” spiel. They showed me a brand new one, still in its box with all the papers and everything. Looked amazing, of course, and it was from this year, 2024, so it was the latest model.
- Went to official Omega stores.
- Saw a brand new 2024 model.
- Had the original box and papers.
But then I thought, maybe I could find a slightly used one, maybe save a bit of money. So I started checking out other places, places that sell pre-owned watches. Found this one spot that had a Moonwatch, also with the clear back, but it was from 2021. The guy there said it was “like new,” practically unworn. It also came with the box and papers, plus some extra straps, which was a nice bonus. This one was called a “sapphire sandwich,” whatever that meant, sounded pretty fancy, though.
I also did some reading online about these watches. Turns out there’s a smaller version called the “Reduced,” which isn’t exactly the same. It has an automatic movement, not a manual one like the Moonwatch. I also learned that when it comes to being super accurate, the Moonwatch isn’t quite as good as the Rolex Daytona. But, you know, it’s still a pretty sweet watch.
After weighing my options, comparing the new one from the Omega store with the “like new” one from 2021, I finally made my choice. I decided to go for the pre-owned 2021 model. It was in great shape, came with all the goodies, and saved me some cash. Plus, I liked the idea of having those extra straps. Now I’m just waiting to get it. Can’t wait to wear it.
- Looked for pre-owned options.
- Found a 2021 model in “like new” condition.
- Came with box, papers, and extra straps.
- Decided on the 2021 pre-owned model.
What did I get?
I went for the Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with the open case back from 2021.
It was a tough call between the brand new one and this slightly used one, but I think I made the right decision. I mean, it’s still a Moonwatch, and it’s not like it’s ancient or anything. Plus, having those extra straps is pretty cool. Now I just gotta wait for it to arrive. I’m already picturing myself wearing it. Gonna be sweet!
