This here Omega Speedmaster, they call it Super Racing, or somethin’. I reckon it’s a fancy watch, cost a whole lot of money. You know, them rich folks, they like these shiny things. But I tell ya, a watch is a watch, tells ya the time, that’s all that matters.

Copy Omega Speedmaster, that’s what I heard them young’uns sayin’. Means it ain’t the real deal, but looks just like it. Now, why would anyone want a fake one? Beats me. But they say it’s cheaper, much cheaper. Still, seems like a waste to me. If you gonna buy somethin’, might as well get the real thing, right?

This Speedmaster Super Racing, the real one, it’s got all sorts of fancy stuff on it. Little dials, buttons, I don’t know what they all do. Probably for them race car drivers or astronauts or somethin’. Me? I just need to know when it’s time to feed the chickens and milk the cow.

  • See them little circles on the watch face? They call ’em subdials.
  • On a real Omega, they gotta be spaced just right.
  • Fake ones, they mess that up, too close or too far apart.

They say the real Omega Speedmaster is made special, some fancy way they make the insides work. You can tell it’s a fake one, cause it doesn’t work the same. The real deal is… what do they call it, mechanical. This means no batteries in it.

And that shiny ring around the face, the bezel, they call it. Got numbers on it, goes round and round. On the real ones, the numbers and marks are all perfect. On a fake one, they look kinda sloppy, not lined up right.

Now, how you gonna know if it’s a real Omega watch? Well, they say the real ones come from certain stores, fancy stores. And they give you a card, a warranty card, with some numbers on it. An 8-digit number or a 7-digit number, somethin’ like that. That number is supposed to be on the watch too, on the back or on them little things that hold the strap. The serial number, that’s what they call it.

They told me, lots of fake Omega Speedmaster watches got the same serial number. So if that number shows up for a different watch, then you know it ain’t real.

The old watches, they got the number inside, on the back cover and on the… the guts of the watch, the movement. Fancy name for the insides, I guess. They have these special Omega places, they can help you find all this, if you need to know.

This one fella, he was talkin’ ’bout the numbers on that bezel ring. Said on his real Speedmaster, the number 100 lines up with the 36-minute mark. But on a fake one, it lines up with the 35-minute mark. See? Tricky, ain’t it?

  • Real Omega, 100 lines up with 36.
  • Fake Omega, 100 lines up with 35.
  • Gotta look real close to see that.

I heard them sayin’, this Speedmaster, it’s for them car races, way back when. Back in the 50s, they said. Folks were crazy ’bout them fast cars, zoomin’ around. Guess this watch was for timin’ them races or somethin’. Seems like a lot of fuss for a watch, if you ask me.

If you see a Speedy, that’s what they call it, with a special back, you gotta ask for some paper from Omega. An Extract, they call it. Don’t know what that is, but it sounds important.

Some folks, they collect these old watches. They want a piece of history, they say. This Omega Speedmaster, it’s a legend, whatever that means. Guess it’s a big deal to some folks. Just remember, a copy Omega Speedmaster is not a real one.

Well, that’s all I know ’bout this Omega Speedmaster Super Racing. It’s a watch, that’s for sure. A fancy one, for folks with money to burn. Me? I’ll stick with my old trusty watch. It tells the time just fine, and that’s all I need.
