Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on the OMEGA Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary for a while now. This thing is a beauty, and not just because it looks cool, but also ’cause of the whole story behind it. Remember, Omega got the “Silver Snoopy Award” from NASA astronauts back in 1970, recognizing their part in space exploration.
I finally decided to go for it. First thing, I checked out the watch in person at the store, the case is 42mm, made of stainless steel, you know, the classic Moonwatch style. And man, those blue accents are sharp! Plus, there’s this little Snoopy on the sub-dial, which is pretty unique, not some big huge logo or anything, just right.
I did some digging, and found out that this wasn’t a limited edition, technically, which is strange given the insane demand. I mean, this is the 50th-anniversary edition, so everyone and their dog wants one. It was kind of a pain to find one. I think they limited the previous editions, some 5000 or so pieces and another at only 1970 pieces. This one, however, was not numbered.
Anyway, the real magic is on the caseback. It’s got this animation of Snoopy in his Command and Service Module. I don’t even know how they did it, but it’s there, I’ve seen it in person. It’s wild, and probably the reason why everyone’s going crazy over this watch.
Now, the price, they say it’s around 14k to 15k, well that was a stretch for me, to put it lightly, but I took the plunge, and to be honest, no regrets. It’s such a cool piece. The whole “Snoopy is back and he’s on a mission” vibe is awesome, and the watch itself is just solid, it’s a Speedmaster, after all. It runs on the 3861 movement. It also says “Eyes on the Stars” on the back, which is pretty cool as well.
Getting my hands on this watch was a bit of a mission in itself, but totally worth it. If you’re into watches, or space, or just cool things in general, this is something to check out.
- Step 1: Desire hits – I wanted this watch bad.
- Step 2: Store Visit – Checked it out in person, loved the blue and the little Snoopy.
- Step 3: Research time – Found out it’s not technically limited, but still super hard to get.
- Step 4: The Caseback – Snoopy animation sealed the deal, I had to have it.
- Step 5: Saved Up – A bit of a financial stretch, but I went for it.
- Step 6: Success! – Got the watch, no regrets. It’s even better in person.
So, yeah, that’s my little adventure with the OMEGA Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary. Hope you guys enjoyed the story!
