Okay, so, I’ve been obsessed with this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag lately. You know, the medium-sized one? It’s just so classic and elegant, I knew I had to have it. But here’s the thing, I didn’t want to just buy it,I wanted to experience making my own. I went online to find some information about this bag and got some ideas. So, I decided to give it a shot and remake one myself.
First things first, I needed to get my hands on some Saffiano leather. I did a little digging and realized that this type of leather is the soul of the bag. This kind of leather is not just any *’s known for being super tough. I mean, it can take a beating – scratches, stains, even water, It’s a piece of cake for it. Plus, it’s easy to keep clean. Just a quick wipe and it’s good as new. And it’s genuine leather that has been treated and embossed. It does not develop a patina over time.I found a supplier online and ordered a few pieces that were pretty close to the color of the original Prada bag.
While I was waiting for the leather to arrive, I started studying the bag’s design. I watched a bunch of videos online, and I found out that the original one is made of 83 different pieces. Eighty-three! Can you believe it? It seemed a little bit crazy to me, but I love the Saffiano version of the bag because it holds its shape. Anyway, I sketched out each piece and made my own patterns. It took a while, but it was kind of fun, like putting together a giant, fancy puzzle.

Getting the Leather Ready: Once the leather arrived, I carefully cut out each piece using my patterns. I made sure to double-check everything because, with leather, you don’t get a second chance. I also bought some sturdy lining material, and hardware like zippers and buckles that matched the original design.
-
Stitching It Up: I don’t have one of those fancy industrial sewing machines, so I decided to hand-stitch the whole thing. It was definitely a test of patience, but also really satisfying. I used a strong, waxed thread that I found at a local craft store. It was slow going, but I made sure each stitch was neat and secure.

Putting It All Together: With all the pieces stitched, it was time to assemble the bag. I started with the main body, then added the lining, and finally attached the handles and hardware. Seeing it all come together was such a thrill.
After many hours, my homemade Prada Galleria bag was finally finished. It’s not perfect, of course. There are a few wonky stitches here and there, and it took way longer than I expected. It’s not exactly the same as the original, but it’s pretty darn close. And I made it with my own two hands! I am so happy to get it. I’ve been carrying it around for a few days now, and I just love the feel of it.
This whole project was such a cool experience. I learned a ton about leatherworking and sewing, and I ended up with a beautiful bag that I’m really proud of. If you’re thinking about trying something like this, I say go for it! It’s a lot of work, but it’s also super rewarding.
