So, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a nice watch for a while now. And not just any watch, but something really special, you know? I finally decided to go for the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the one with the see-through back. Let me tell you, it was quite the adventure.
First off, I started doing some digging online. This watch, it’s a classic. It’s called the “Moonwatch” for a reason – it’s the same type of watch that went to the moon! It’s a decent size, 42mm, but it doesn’t feel huge on my wrist, which is good.
I found out that there are a couple of different versions. The one I really wanted has a sapphire crystal back, so you can see all the cool little gears and things moving inside. It is a manual winding watch. This means that you need to wind it every other day to maintain its accuracy. The ref number of the watch is 310.30.42.50.01.002. The one with the more traditional Hesalite crystal is also really cool, but I just love being able to see the movement.
I found a few places that sell it, but the prices were all over the place. Then I stumbled upon this one place, looked pretty legit, said they had “original order” pieces. I know the watch I bought is not in stock anymore on the official website. I thought, “Why not?” and placed an order.
The waiting was the hardest part! I was checking the tracking like every hour. Finally, the day came. The package arrived, and I ripped it open like a kid on Christmas morning. And there it was, in all its glory.
The watch is even more beautiful in person. The stainless steel case is really solid, and the black dial with those three little sub-dials is just classic. And of course, the transparent back is amazing. I’ve spent way too much time just staring at the movement, I could see the power reserve indicator in action. I wear it to work today and my colleague is very interested in my watch, especially the transparent case back.

It’s more than just a watch, it’s like a piece of history on my wrist. And being able to see the craftsmanship on the inside is just the icing on the cake. Definitely a purchase I won’t regret!
