Okay, so, let me tell you about this little project I got myself into. I decided to try my hand at remaking the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100G-010. Yeah, the fancy one. Why? Well, why not? I saw it online and thought, “I bet I could do something like that.”

First thing I did was look it up online. You know, just to get a good look at it from all angles. It seemed like it was going to be a fun challenge. The real ones? Super expensive, obviously. And you can only really get them in a few places – Geneva, London, and Paris. That’s what I found out anyway. Plus, from what I read, the real deal, the numbers you usually see on the back of the watch? They are not visible on a real Patek Philippe. So, fakes usually have them showing on the back. Good to know, right?

  • Finding Inspiration:
    • I spent hours browsing online, checking out pictures and videos of the Gondolo. The craftsmanship is wild.
    • Noticed some stuff about the real ones not having numbers on the back, unlike some knock-offs.
    • Also saw that the real ones are only sold in a few select stores in big cities.

So, after I felt like I had a decent idea of what I was dealing with, I started sketching. I’m no artist, but I managed to get a rough outline going. I wanted a bright black and intense white for the dial. It is cool right?

  • Getting Started:
    • Did some rough sketches. Nothing fancy, just trying to get the basic shape down.
    • Decided to give this a go, just to see if I could.
    • Then I do some find online and know that Catawiki is a famous auction marketplace, maybe I can find the Gondolo.

The Fun Part

This is where things got interesting. I started messing around with some design software. I wanted to find some other special objects on Catawiki, so I open it and find them. It’s like a treasure hunt. Slowly but surely, the Gondolo started to take shape on my computer screen. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine. And, honestly, I was pretty proud of it. It took some time to adjust this and that. The Gondolo I remade in software is finally done! Then, I share this on the forum.

  • Bringing it to Life:
    • Used some software to start building my version of the watch.
    • Then I am so excited to open the software and find the Gondolo.
    • Spent a good chunk of time tweaking things, moving stuff around. It was a real learning process.

And that’s pretty much it. It was a fun little adventure. Maybe not something I’d do again, but hey, I did it. I made a digital version of a Patek Philippe Gondolo. Not bad for a regular guy, right?
