Today I am going to mess around with this OMEGA X-33 Marstimer, trying to get a classic style on it.
I first got wind of this Marstimer thing a while back, probably early this year. I mean, who wouldn’t want a watch that’s purpose-built, right? So, I started digging around, reading up on forums and stuff. I even found some discussions from like, February 2024, where people were debating whether to get one or not. There were some talks about issues with the new Marstimer X-33, but I was still curious.
Then I stumbled upon an article from September 27, 2022, introducing the new OMEGA Speedmaster X-33 Marstimer. That’s when I really got hooked. I mean, OMEGA showcasing their ability to engineer for a specific purpose? Count me in. I also found this ultimate guide to all four generations of the X-33. It’s pretty cool to see how it has evolved.
So, I went ahead and got my hands on one. The presentation is sleek, with a mix of grade 2 and grade. I guess that’s just the standard for these high-end watches. I read somewhere that the bezel ring is made of oxalic anodized aluminum, which sounds fancy. It does give it this tactile, matte feel, almost like a G-Shock but way more refined, of course.
Now, to get that classic style, I started playing around with the settings.
- First step: I went through all the basic configurations, you know, setting the time, date, and all that jazz.
- Next up: I explored the different modes. This thing has a bunch of them, from the standard timekeeping to some more advanced features that I probably won’t use much.
- Then came the fun part: customizing the display. I wanted something that looked classic but still had that modern edge. After a bit of trial and error, I settled on a simple analog display with a subtle digital readout for the date. It’s a nice balance, I think.
The whole process was pretty straightforward. I didn’t run into any major issues, though I did have to consult the manual a couple of times. But hey, that’s part of the fun, right? Figuring things out on your own. I feel pretty good about how it turned out.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure with the OMEGA X-33 Marstimer. It’s a cool piece of tech, and getting that classic style on it was a nice little project. If you’re into watches and like tinkering around, I’d say give it a shot. You might be surprised at what you can come up with.
