Well, now, lookie here, I gotta tell ya ’bout this here watch, see? It’s called a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar, but that’s a mouthful, ain’t it? We just call it a fancy watch ’round these parts. This one, it’s like a copy, not the real deal, but it sure looks like it, ya know?
Now, I ain’t no expert on these fancy things, but I heard folks talkin’. They say this here JLC Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar, it’s somethin’ special. But it costs more than my old mule did! So, we look for the cheaper ones, the ones that look the same but don’t cost ya an arm and a leg. This one, it’s a “quote,” they call it. Means it ain’t the real McCoy, but it’s close enough for me.
What’s so special ’bout this watch?
Well, first off, it’s thin. Ultra Thin, they call it. Not like that bulky thing ol’ Jebediah wears. This one, it’s slim and fits nice under your shirt cuff. Don’t want somethin’ catchin’ on your overalls, do ya?
Then there’s this “perpetual calendar” thingamajig. Means it knows what day it is, even on them leap years. Don’t gotta fiddle with it every month like them cheap watches. This one, it just keeps on tickin’ and tellin’ the right date, year after year. It’s like magic, I tell ya!
- It’s thin, real thin.
- It’s got that fancy calendar.
- It looks like a million bucks.
- But it don’t cost that much!
This Imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre, it’s got a nice face. Some folks like ’em white, some like ’em dark. This one here, it’s kinda off-white, like a hen’s egg. Looks real classy, if ya ask me. And the numbers, they’re all shiny and easy to read. Even with my old eyes, I can see ’em just fine.
Where to find these “quotes”?
Well, that’s the tricky part. You can’t just walk into any ol’ store and find one. Gotta know where to look. I heard some fellas talkin’ ’bout a place called…what was it now? APSF, ZF, they are making the Imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre, something like that. They make them things that look almost like the real one. Then there is this ZF V2, ZF V3, goodness, I cannot keep up, always new ones coming out. You gotta ask around, find someone who knows ’bout these things. They can point ya in the right direction.
The real Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar watches are expensive, these ones ain’t. I just want a good-lookin’ watch that tells the time and date. Don’t need all that fancy stuff that costs a fortune. The real ones got all these different colors, rose gold, eggshell. This one, it’s just a regular watch, but it does the job. They look good, though, these gold ones, all shiny and pretty. That rose gold, you can find it, too, in the imitation version, just don’t cost as much.
The real ones, they got all these fancy words for ’em. Master Ultra Thin, that’s what they call this one. Then they got numbers and letters, like 1308470, like a secret code or somethin’. Black dial, they call it. I saw one like that once, all dark and mysterious lookin’. Then there is the Master Ultra Thin Small Second, which I believe is smaller.
The Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar, they say it’s got somethin’ called a Calibre 868 inside. Sounds like a tractor engine to me! But I guess it’s what makes the watch tick so good. Don’t know much ’bout these things, but I know it works. The real ones are made by some fancy company, Jaeger-LeCoultre, sounds French. They make all kinds of fancy watches, I hear. IWC, Glashutte, Lange, Vacheron, they are the same kind, all expensive and fancy.
Is this watch for you?
Now, I ain’t sayin’ this watch is for everyone. Some folks, they like them big, flashy watches. But if you want somethin’ simple, somethin’ that looks good but don’t cost a fortune, this here Imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar “quote” might be just what you’re lookin’ for. This one is a perfect dress watch, I heard them say. It’s 39 mm wide and 9.2 mm thick. They got a shiny case, too, play with the light, some say. I don’t know, just look like a normal watch to me, just pretty.
It’s like buyin’ a used tractor instead of a brand new one. It might not be shiny and new, but it gets the job done just the same. And it don’t cost ya nearly as much. You just have to be careful, make sure you get the right one.
So, there ya have it. My two cents on this here fancy watch. If you’re in the market for a good-lookin’ timepiece that won’t break the bank, give this Imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre “quote” a look-see. You might just be surprised at what you find.
