Okay, so, I wanted to make a perfect copy of the Fendi Zucca Nappa Tortuga Small Spy bag in that Tobacco Moro color. It was a real adventure, let me tell you.
First, I started by studying the bag like crazy. I mean, I looked at every picture I could find online, zoomed in on the details, and even watched some videos of people showing off their authentic bags. I needed to get every little thing right, from the FF Zucca canvas in the middle to the dark brown leather all around it.
Then, I tried to find the materials. That was a real pain. I went to so many fabric and leather stores, I can’t even count. I was searching for that perfect dark brown leather and the right kind of canvas with the FF pattern. And the hardware! Don’t even get me started on that. Finding gold-tone hardware that looked just like the real deal was a nightmare.
- I spent hours online, looking at different suppliers, comparing prices, and reading reviews.
- It was tough, but I finally found some materials that I thought were close enough.
Next up was actually making the bag. I dusted off my old sewing machine and got to work. It was way harder than I thought it would be. Cutting the leather and canvas to the right shapes, sewing everything together perfectly, and making sure all the details were just right took forever, the dual top handles were also a challenge to get the shape and sturdiness correct. I messed up so many times, and had to start over more than once. I even stayed up all night a few times, trying to get it just right.
The Final Result
After all that work, I finally finished my Fendi copy. It wasn’t perfect, of course, but it was pretty darn close, especially the tortuga-trimmed details. I was pretty proud of myself, to be honest. I learned a lot about bag making, and I got a cool bag out of it, even if it wasn’t the real thing. It was a fun project, even though it was super challenging. Would I do it again? Maybe, but it would definitely have to be for another really special bag.
